English for Specific Purposes Need Analysis among Final Year Chemical Engineering Students in a Malaysian Public University

Need analysis is a crucial part of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) that guides instructors to plan and design an appropriate course target learners. As there limited number research on the needs engineering students in Malaysia, this study focuses assessing determining ESP among public university Selangor, Malaysia. The objectives are analyze perspective final year regarding their language proficiency, skills emphasized field perceived most important skill workplace. data were collected from chemical who have attended industrial training. An online survey questionnaire was adapted Alsamadahi (2017) distributed respondents via Google Form. analyzed using SPSS utilised descriptive summarize findings. Based findings, perceive writing reading as whereas speaking least important. majority also they can perform listening task own better compared task. Overall, results provide great significance design. It be concluded conducted improved if more samples various universities.
